Tigers injury rehab going well

Looks like Tigers well along the road to recovery after his knee operation. Apparently things are going well and he’s now chipping and putting.

He said “If I can’t play before, then hopefully at the US Open. The rehab is going well, I’ve been training hard. I’m getting sick and tired of riding the bike, though. I’m chipping and putting. I’m not doing anything beyond that. Hopefully I’ll start hitting balls, start progressing soon and work my way up the bag.”

St Andrews named 4th best UK coastal town

St Andrews has been named the UK’s 4th best coastal town for 2008 by Coast magazine. They say it is “a town that provides an instant lifestyle fantasy.” St Andrews was beaten only by Christchurch in Dorset, Falmouth in Cornwall and Brighton.

£10 million renovation and expansion plan for St Andrews Golf Hotel

Hotel du vin, the company that bought the St Andrews Golf Hotel in January 2008, have outlined proposals to renovate and expand the hotel to 40 bedrooms. An 18-bedroom extension will be added to the rear of the hotel along with a subterranean car park with 13 spaces, an external courtyard, better focus and pedestrian access to the hotel and its facilities from Murray Place and the town centre, re-landscaping of the public square and parking area at Murray Place and the introduction of upper terraces.

Trump denies ‘gagging’ claim

Aberdeenshire councillors have claimed that the Trump Organisation are looking for a way to prevent them appearing at the forthcoming Menie inquiry - or to get their status at the inquiry reduced. The claim was made after lawyers for Trump sent a letter to a planning reporter to clarify the status of councillors at the public local inquiry.

Parking voucher system to be phased out on August 30

At a meeting of north east Fife area committee in Cupar on Wednesday, councillors voted by nine votes to six to replace the current parking voucher scheme with parking meters. The voucher system will be phased out on the 30th of August.

St Andrews parking vouchers scrapped

New direct flight from New York to Edinburgh

From Friday, Delta Airlines will begin a new daily service between New York’s JFK airport and Edinburgh. Travellers will be able to fly to Edinburgh, via JFK, from many US cities, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Trump to appear at golf enquiry

Donald Trump has announced that he will attend the public enquiry into his planned golf resort in Aberdeenshire. The hearing is set to take place in June, ahead of a final ministerial decision.

The plans for the resort include two championship golf courses, 950 holiday homes, 36 golf villas and 500 private homes.

No drug testing at the 2008 British Open

The Royal & Ancient have decided that, as the qualifying tournaments are already underway, no competitors will be tested for drugs at this years British Open. Testing has been scheduled to start on the US and European tours in July. The 2009 British Open will be the first with drugs testing.
