The Strathtyrum Course St. Andrews

Opened on the 1st of July 1993, the Strathtyrum Course was the first new course on the St. Andrews Links for almost 80 years. Designed by Donald Steel as an easier alternative to the longer courses, it is built on the same links land as the Old, New, Jubilee and Eden courses. The course takes it’s name from the adjacent Strathtyrum Estate, from which the land was purchased.

The course is only 5,620 yards long and can be a lot of fun as there are plenty of birdie opportunities, even for a high handicapper. The Strathtyrum is probably best used as a practice course, to hone your short game, or to take a break from the more difficult courses. For someone new to golf, this is the perfect course for you.
